Overview

Natural Beauty of Angel’s Billabong

Angel’s Billabong is a spectacular rock formation on Nusa Penida island’s southwestern cliff edges. It’s nearby Pasih Uug (Broken Beach), another popular site with unique limestone formations. The naturally formed rock lagoon offers a scenic seascape. You can descend into its crystal-clear rock pools for a swim or a soak, but only during low tide. The rock pools are one of the must-sees for visitors to Nusa Penida. The island itself is famous for its beautiful cliffs and pristine coastlines. Both Angel’s Billabong and Broken Beach are very popular sites here. However, you’ll most likely have this amazing natural infinity pool all to yourself on your visit. It’s a good idea to explore Broken Beach first nearby. Take in the splendor of its natural limestone arches over the blue waters. Then, head off to take a dip and perhaps a swim in the natural pools of Angel’s Billabong, There are clear signposts along the dusty pathways that lead you to both sites. You’ll need to take the trail from Broken Beach by foot. Take extra caution at all times when descending into Angel’s Billabong. Avoid going down if it’s a high tide. Don’t attempt to swim there during these times – the otherworldly view is still worth a visit from the top. The waters from the open Indian Ocean are rough. The jagged rocks turn it into a treacherous combination (there have been fatal incidents in the past). If it happens to be low tide, carefully descend the sharp rocks. You can enjoy a dip in the crystal-clear pools amongst its jade seaweed-covered rocks. You can even swim around the whole lagoon to your heart’s content. It’s a good idea to come with reef shoes.

Broken Beach

Broken Beach is a scenic coastal formation on the southwestern edge of Nusa Penida island. The spot is marked by a hilly arch-like rock formation, which is the distinguishable landmark of the area. Set over the crashing waves of the open Indian Ocean, Broken Beach is a great spot for travel Photographers and panoramic view seekers. The adjacent area is also home to grey long-taile Macaques. If you’re lucky, you may spot silhouettes of giant mantas near the surface of the deep blue water. The journey to Broken Beach is an overland adventure through Nusa Penida’s rugged limestone terrain. Most of the pathways are rocky and unpaved. It will take around two hours to reach this corner from the resort. Once you get to Broken Beach, you’ll be rewarded by a truly sweeping seascape. You can combine your trip to Broken Beach to see more unique coastal features, such as the beautiful Angel’s Billabong. There are local vendors selling drinks and light refreshments. Some sell beer, so you can sit back on a cliff edge with a cold one to take in the view.

Crystal Bay Beach

From the name itself, you probably could guess that Crystal Bay Beach has one of the most crystal clear water in Nusa Penida. The beach is a really quiet and almost feel like a private beach. The sand stretch over 200 meters with a turtle like Mini Island floating in front of it. Crystal Bay is also one of the most popular snorkeling and diving spot in Nusa Penida, as it has beautiful corals, exotic fishes and the rare Mola Mola fish from time to time.

Kelingking Beach

Nusa Penida has so many amazing views making it hard to pick a favorite. But when the cliffs form in the shape of a Tyrannosaurus Rex at Kelingking Secret Point Beach it is bound to be a crowd favorite. Kelingking actually translates into English meaning Pinkie a term referencing the smallest finger on the hand. Just like a pinkie promise, the land does also appear to take the form of a Kelingking or pinkie finger. However, it is the comparison to the T-Rex that has caused this location to become so popular. The safety at Kelingking is reliant on the bamboo railing. At many points along the cliff edge, there is no rail whatsoever and the grass just leads you off the edge, down hun-dreds of feet onto the rocks. The lack of safety should give you no false sense of security, be very careful as you walk along the edge enjoy-ing the view.
